The hopeless DPR

The hopeless DPR

From Warta Kota

The country is feeling political shockwaves again. The plenary meeting of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Jan. 12, has proven that the political arena has not yet staged a final ending to the drama. The players in the political arena have based their actions on their own interests.

Actually, they should stage the story in accordance with the order of hundreds of millions of people, who hope to enjoy a fascinating and satisfying sequel in which good triumphs over evil. People are longing for a happy ending.

The meeting actually could not be called a plenary meeting as only 245 of the 485 members were present. Where were the rest of the legislators who receive fat salaries? People who claim to be public representatives have avoided their tasks for the umpteenth time.

We have often heard the pros and cons in the formation of a Bulogate II special committee in connection with the alleged abuse of Rp 54.6 billion of Bulog's funds by Akbar Tandjung. This brings to mind a proverb: "There are no eternal friends or eternal enemies in politics, but only eternal interests."
