The Government Issues Rp305.5 Trillion in New Debt Through April 2026
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government has again drawn new debt of Rp305.5 trillion through 30 April 2026 to meet the funding needs of the State Budget (APBN). Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the debt financing realization amounted to 36.7 percent of the debt financing target in the 2026 APBN of Rp832.2 trillion. ‘Financing is kept prudent and measured. I think debt financing up to April is Rp305.5 trillion,’ Purbaya said at the APBN KiTa press conference at the Ministry of Finance, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (19/5/2026). Meanwhile, non-debt financing recorded minus Rp7 trillion or 4.9 percent of the APBN target of Rp143.1 trillion. ‘Non-debt financing minus Rp7 trillion. What does that mean? It has already been issued Rp7 trillion,’ said the State Treasurer. Overall, the implementation of budget financing through end-April 2026 reached Rp298.5 trillion or 43.3 percent of the APBN target of Rp689.1 trillion. Purbaya stressed that the government still has strong capacity to issue government securities in the financial markets. He assured that the government will continue to maintain the credibility of APBN management so that investor confidence remains intact. ‘Note that our funds are quite credible; we do not have difficulties in issuing government securities and we will continue to safeguard the credibility of our APBN,’ he said. He added that APBN financing for 2026 is managed prudently and measured, while taking into account the government’s liquidity conditions, the country’s cash position, and the dynamics of global and domestic financial markets.
