The Genius Math League serves as a platform to discover young mathematical talent
The President Director of Sinar Mas Sekuritas, Rudy Utomo, stated that The Genius Math League serves as a platform to identify and recognise young Indonesian talent, particularly those possessing engineering capabilities underpinned by strong mathematical skills.
He noted that thinking skills are becoming increasingly relevant amidst technological advancements and shifts in the global workforce. “Make the most of this opportunity, perform to your best ability, and remain enthusiastic about developing your potential,” Rudy said in a statement in Tangerang on Tuesday.
Three mathematical talents have progressed as finalists for The Genius Math League (TGML) 2026 after participating in the Jakarta Regional Offline Qualification at Prasetiya Mulya University BSD on Monday (21/09/2026).
The three participants are Harrison Matthew Tanuwijaya, an 11th-grade student from SMAK 3 Penabur Jakarta; Michael Magica Ang, a 10th-grade student from SMAK BPK Penabur Bandar Lampung; and Mikhael Francis Wisanggeni, a student from the Mathematics programme at Sekolah Dian Harapan Global Bintaro.
“They have earned the right to proceed to the Grand Final of The Genius Math League 2026, which will take place on 23–24 October 2026 at ICE BSD, Tangerang,” Rudy added. He further noted that this initiative aligns with Sinar Mas’s commitment to supporting the development of Indonesian talent, specifically for the generation with interests and abilities in mathematics.
The Jakarta Regional Offline Qualification is part of the Sinar Mas Digital Day 2026 series, organised by TechConnect. The event brings together participants from various educational levels to test mathematical proficiency, speed of thought, accuracy, and strategic thinking in a competitive environment.
Raadhiyah Mardhiyyah, Project Manager of The Genius Math League, explained that the competition tests more than just mathematical problem-solving; participants are also challenged to rely on logical reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, precision, and decision-making under time pressure.
A key feature of The Genius Math League is its cross-level competition concept. Participants do not only compete against those with similar educational backgrounds but also have the opportunity to face peers from diverse levels of experience and education.
“Through The Genius Math League, we want to provide a space for participants from various backgrounds to demonstrate their abilities and ways of thinking. Every challenge provides an opportunity for participants to not only find answers but also to determine strategies and make decisions quickly and accurately,” she said.
