The Gandaria Utara RT Chief's Innovations Never Stop: From Digital Security to RT Mart

Imam Basori, popularly known as Ibas, continues to be in the spotlight for a string of innovations he has introduced in the residents of RT 11 RW 7 Gandaria Utara, South Jakarta. Recently, he has strengthened the security system while also beginning to develop the community’s economic empowerment through various digital and self-help programmes.

In the security field, Ibas has introduced the ‘Si Jaga Warga’ system, which includes night-time loudspeakers at six points, a panic button, QR patrol, and CCTV access that residents can monitor on their mobile phones.

‘Ajak Jakarta berarti Betawi identity must be connected. It wouldn’t work if it came from East Java. Now if it’s Betawi, it connects,’ Ibas told Kompas.com at his home on Thursday (14 May 2026). He added that using Betawi dialect is also intended to build emotional closeness among residents. ‘Even though their Betawi dialect isn’t as strong as before, by using Betawi dialect, they feel as though the past is still with them,’ he said.

Furthermore, the panic button is prepared for emergencies that can immediately trigger announcements via the loudspeaker. If the emergency button is pressed, the RT administrators can directly request help from nearby residents via the loudspeaker. ‘But at least it’s loud enough to be heard. Initially, other RTs left as well during the drill,’ he said.

To boost residents’ economy through RT 11 Mart and the garbage bank, platform serves as a marketplace for local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to market their products. ‘So at least many are trading small items; although they already cooperate with other marketplaces, who knows someone might be drawn to ours; it would bring in some extra income,’ Ibas said.
