The Full Timeline of Dr Richard Lee's Detention: From Doktif's Report to the Prison Cell
Jakarta – The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has formally detained cosmetic doctor and high-profile influencer Dr Richard Lee (DRL) on Friday night, 6 March 2026. The detention comes after a protracted dispute with Samira Farahnaz, who is popularly known as Dokter Detektif (Doktif).
Witnesses at the scene said Dr Richard Lee left the Ditreskrimsus (Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation) building around 21:43 WIB wearing a white shirt and black trousers. With his hands believed to be handcuffed behind a cloth, he was escorted by investigators to a detention facility, offering no statements to journalists.
The legal conflict began when Doktif filed a police report on 2 December 2024 with registration LP/B/7317/XII/2024/SPKT Polda Metro Jaya. Doktif accused DRL of making false claims about beauty products and violating health standards.
The Public Relations Head of Polda Metro Jaya, Combes Pol Budi Hermanto, explained that the detention was imposed because Dr Richard Lee was deemed uncooperative and impeded the investigation.
“The suspect did not appear for an additional examination on 3 March 2026 without a clear explanation. On that day, the suspect was observed live-streaming on his TikTok account. In addition, the person also twice failed to comply with mandatory reporting,” Budi Hermanto said at Polda Metro Jaya.
Investigators had named Richard Lee as a suspect since 15 December 2025. He is charged under the Health Law and consumer protection provisions.
Prior to being placed in detention, Richard Lee underwent a health check by Biddokes Polda Metro Jaya, which returned normal results. All personal belongings not related to the investigation were handed to his legal team.
Rather than attending an additional examination as a suspect, Lee conducted a live stream on his personal TikTok for product promotion.
Polda Metro Jaya has formally detained Dr Richard Lee on the grounds of non‑cooperation and failing to meet mandatory reporting requirements. Readers can review the full reasons for the detention and potential penalties here.
Investigators act independently and in accordance with the principles of legality, professionalism, proportionality and accountability. The detention period is twenty days, running from 10 February to 1 March 2026.
Investigators from Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya have scheduled further interviews with Richard Lee to elicit additional statements.
Dr Samira Farahnaz (Doktif) celebrated in South Jakarta District Court after a judge dismissed Richard Lee’s pre-trial bid, with the suspect’s status deemed valid and the investigation continuing.
Dokter and health content creator Amira Farahnaz, alias Doktif, has expressed hope that Polda Metro Jaya will promptly detain Richard Lee.
Doktif’s presence drew attention as she came directly to the scene while investigators were questioning Richard Lee in connection with the legal case against him.
Her rise in prominence followed the legal action against Dr Richard Lee for alleged violations of consumer protection laws, stemming from a cross‑professional dispute between doctors and social media activists, including Samira Farahnaz (Dokter Detektif or Doktif).
The designation of this status results from a report filed by Samira Farahnaz, the social-media‑savvy physician known as Doktif.
