The Fate of BGN's Idle Rp 1 Trillion Electric Motorcycle Project
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has confirmed that 21,801 electric motorcycles worth more than Rp 1 trillion will not be left idle. The vehicles were originally procured to support the Free Nutritious Meal programme (MBG).
There is an opportunity for the motorcycles to be transferred to other ministries or institutions that require them for operational support. BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari stated that several ministries and agencies have already expressed interest in utilising the electric motorcycles.
However, the final decision lies with President Prabowo Subianto following a thorough assessment. “There are several proposals for the utilisation, from the Ministry of Population and Family Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, and also from teachers,” Agustina said during a press conference at the BGN Office in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
“Please submit your proposals, the President said, let the ministries in need come forward, and it will be reviewed by the President’s own team. We will simply follow along,” she continued.
Agustina emphasised that the motorcycles had been purchased using state funds. Therefore, the government prefers to optimise their use rather than leave them unused. “The point is we will utilise them, but not all for BGN. Because they have been paid for with state money,” she concluded.
