The Facts Behind the Investment Fraud Case Implicating Ruben Onsu

POLICE have named celebrity Ruben Samuel Onsu (RSO) a suspect in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement of investment funds. The legal matter is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police following an official report from the victim.

The alleged criminal report is recorded in Police Report Number 310/VIII/2025/SPKT/South Jakarta Police dated 22 August 2025. The case involves a complainant with the initials P and a victim with the initials DM.

The case began with a business partnership offer made by the reported party to the victim in 2025. The offer included an agreement on profit-sharing from the invested funds.

“The chronology is that the reported party (Ruben Onsu) has a business, then offered the victim the opportunity to invest funds. The victim was then interested in carrying out the agreement between the victim and the reported party,” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Thursday.

However, as time went on, the obligation to share profits and return the principal funds was never fulfilled by the agreed deadline.

“When the agreed time arrived, the profit had not been received and the capital had also not been returned. That is why the victim reported this incident to the South Jakarta Police,” he said.

Regarding the total amount of losses suffered by the victim, the police have not yet detailed the exact figure as the matter is still in the evidence-gathering stage.

The handling of this case underwent a change in legal status after going through a series of police procedures. On 25 April 2026, the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Criminal Investigation Unit officially upgraded the case status from preliminary inquiry to investigation.

“At the investigation stage, investigators have examined more than six witnesses, including expert witnesses,” he said.

After gathering sufficient evidence and announcing the suspect status, the police have scheduled an examination of Ruben Onsu in his new capacity.

“Yesterday we just named him a suspect, so of course we will schedule a summons for him,” said South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Public Relations Head AKP Joko Adi Wibowo at the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters on Thursday.

The first examination is planned to take place in the near future. “We will likely schedule the examination for next week,” he said.
