The Dark Tale of Taufik Hidayat's Family: A String of Tragedies Before the YTR Confinement Case Was Exposed
The alleged confinement and abuse case involving a woman with the initials YTR, which has ensnared Taufik Hidayat (30), remains under public scrutiny. The West Java Regional Police have named Taufik a suspect and charged him with multiple offences, carrying a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison. Police suspect the victim suffered repeated violence while living with the perpetrator, resulting in severe injuries, impaired vision, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk normally. As the legal process continues, various facts about Taufik’s personal life have come to light. Not only his past history but also his family’s story has drawn attention. From the accounts of his biological father, Tata, and the Head of Ciaro Village, Nagreg District, Bandung Regency, Kusnaedi, it was revealed that the family had long been beset by various trials. One tragedy after another struck in succession, leaving a heartbreaking tale that has now once again captured public attention. Tata revealed that he and his wife had four children. Like any ordinary family, they once lived together before various misfortunes befell them. The first trial came when their eldest child, a daughter, died from an illness. The loss of their first daughter brought profound sorrow to the family. Although they tried to recover, the family was struck by another tragedy some time later, when their youngest son died from a drug overdose. This information was disclosed by Kusnaedi. ‘The youngest died from an overdose, taking drugs until he passed away,’ he said. This incident became one of the greatest losses the family had to endure. The loss of two children reportedly had a significant impact on Taufik’s mother’s psychological condition. According to Kusnaedi, it was not only the loss of her children that burdened her mind, but also various problems experienced by her other children. He stated that Taufik’s mother’s condition continued to deteriorate until she experienced severe mental distress. ‘His mother is stressed, for a year she was just wandering around aimlessly,’ Kusnaedi revealed. Changes in the mother’s behaviour became apparent. She stayed mostly silent at home, refused to speak to anyone, and even left the house several times to walk without direction. ‘His wife (Tata) didn’t want to be taken for a check-up, she just stayed quiet at home, not speaking,’ he said.
