The Case of Doctor Tifa: From Suspect Status to Three Months of Solitude Before Police Arrest
The case involving social media activist Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Doctor Tifa, has drawn renewed attention following news of her arrest by Polda Metro Jaya on Friday, 19 June 2026. The matter relates to alleged accusations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo, which has been ongoing since the previous year and has passed through various stages of legal process. In the development of this case, Polda Metro Jaya investigators had previously named several parties as suspects. After going through the investigation process, the case file was declared complete by the prosecution.
Doctor Tifa, along with several other parties, was named a suspect in the case of alleged dissemination of fake diploma accusations against President Joko Widodo in November 2025. Before news of her arrest emerged, Doctor Tifa shared a post on her social media account containing an outpouring of feelings regarding her recent activities. In the post, she requested prayers from the public.
“Please pray for me. Three months of solitude. The term among scientists is Sabbatical leave. Being alone to delve deeper, reflect, and study,” she wrote. “The manuscript—whatever its state—is, God willing, ready. Remembering 30 years ago when I was completing my medical education. Asking each other with friends, ‘How could we possibly finish medical school and thankfully not go mad?’ Medical school is very, very tough. It devastates the body, soul, and mind.”
“Now that feeling has returned. Accompanied, of course, by a much greater burden and responsibility. This dissertation is about Diabetes, a disease suffered by 20 million people in Indonesia, and that figure is just the tip of the iceberg. The reality is far, far greater. And this dissertation elevates the Holy Quran with the As Syifa verses, or healing verses. The responsibility is heavy, very heavy. Because of that, I ask for prayers from all my friends, my fellow countrymen and women.”
