The Business Empire of Mandiri Coal Group - Olenka
PT Prima Andalan Mandiri Tbk, or Mandiri Coal Group, is a coal mining company with the registered trademark “Mandiri Coal”. The company, which officially listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) in 2021 under the ticker MCOL, claims that the coal it produces is environmentally friendly due to its low ash and sulphur content, making it safe for use as fuel for power generation.
The company’s journey began in 1989 with the establishment of PT Mandiri Intiperkasa, which operates in coal mining. The company obtained concession rights in North Kalimantan covering 50,000 hectares in 1994. In 2004, pursuant to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree Number 241.K/40.00/DJG/2004, the area under PT Mandiri Intiperkasa’s concession was reduced to 9,240 hectares.
The three subsidiaries officially became part of PT Prima Andalan Mandiri Tbk (Mandiri Coal Group) in 2011.
PT Mandiri Intiperkasa (MIP) or Mandiri Coal
Established in 1989, PT Mandiri Intiperkasa (MIP) holds coal concession rights through a Coal Mining Business Implementation Agreement (PKP2B) since 1994. MIP has a stockpile capacity of 1.3 million metric tonnes and recorded its highest production of 9.02 million metric tonnes in 2022.
PT Mandala Karya Prima (Mandiri Contractor)
Established in 2005, this company operates as a mining contractor for Mandiri Coal since 2007. PT Mandala Karya Prima is responsible for coal mining operations as well as mine operations and maintenance.
PT Maritim Prima Mandiri (Mandiri Tranship)
PT Maritim Prima Mandiri handles coal transportation logistics for MIP. In 2017, the company invested in tanker vessels with a capacity of 5,000 kilolitres. Currently, PT Maritim Prima Mandiri operates 19 tugboats and barges, supported by three floating cranes.
