The body of Alex Noerdin will be prayed for at the Grand Mosque of Palembang before burial
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The body of former South Sumatra Governor Alex Noerdin will be prayed for at the Grand Mosque of Palembang, Thursday (26/2/2026), before being buried.
Dodi Reza, Alex Noerdin’s son, said that the prayer ceremony at the Grand Mosque of Palembang was a request from the people of South Sumatra.
“Before being buried, he will be taken to the Grand Mosque of Palembang, at the request of the people of South Sumatra, so that he can stop by and be prayed for together with all the people of the city of Palembang, South Sumatra,” said Dodi, Wednesday (25/2/2026).
Upon arriving in Palembang, Alex’s body will also be taken to his residence to be laid in state and prayed for.
“Tomorrow, it will be taken to Palembang at 7 am and, God willing, it will be taken to the house first, to be prayed for, with all family and relatives,” said Dodi.
Dodi also conveyed an apology for Alex Noerdin’s mistakes during his life and asked for prayers so that his father would receive the best place in the presence of God Almighty.
Dodi said that Alex died on Wednesday afternoon at around 13:26 in a good and peaceful state.
“(He passed away) on the 7th of Ramadan 1447. In this blessed month, and, thank God, we also saw, and we witnessed directly, that he left us all peacefully,” said Dodi.
