The West Java Provincial Government has officially suspended the BDx data centre project in the Jatiluhur area because construction requirements are still being processed, including the Environmental Impact Assessment (AMDAL) and Building Approval (PBG).

Construction of the data centre began on 22 September 2026. The facility is situated on 8,000 square metres of land with a total development area of 11 hectares. Located five kilometres from the Jatiluhur Dam, the project is planned to have a capacity of up to 640 MW.

Electricity supply will be sourced from PLN within the framework of Indonesia’s national power grid, exploring low-carbon energy pathways, including utilising hydropower schemes in collaboration with PJT for sustainable clean energy.

The CGK4 data centre is set to be developed over three years. Construction has commenced on Building 1, which will operate in stages to meet the rising demand for AI. Building 1 will gradually reach a capacity of 120 MW, with operations scheduled to begin in early 2027.

The data centre facility utilises direct-to-chip liquid cooling architecture. This cooling system is designed for 500 kW per rack to support the next generation of AI accelerators.

According to an official company statement, CGK4 is part of the BDx AI expansion, supported by a US$320 million loan facility in 2026. The data centre is projected to create between 2,000 and 3,000 jobs gradually.

The West Java Governor, Dedi Mulyadi, attended the commencement ceremony alongside BDx Data Centres CEO Mayank Srivastava and BDx Indonesia CEO Agus Hartono Wijaya.

Project Suspended Amid Water Concerns

The Head of the West Java Communication and Informatics Department, Adi Komar, stated that the provincial government has concerns regarding compliance with the applicable regulations for the data centre’s construction.
