At Jogja Financial Festival 2026, the panel discussion titled The Bankers brought together chief executives from Indonesia’s leading lenders. Hery Gunardi, Chief Executive Officer of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI), said digital transformation is crucial and a necessity in the face of rapid technological development. BRI continues transforming to strengthen public services, including Brimo Mobile Banking, which now has more than 60 million users.

Nixon LP Napitupulu, President Director of PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN), noted BTN’s focus on housing finance and that it has provided home loan financing (KPR) to six million people in the desil 3 segment, which comprises the 21st to 30th percentile in terms of national wealth. In government assistance programmes, Desil 3 is categorised as near-poor. He said two main strategies exist for distributing housing credit: subsidised KPR and self-help housing assistance for the lowest-income households.

Anggoro Eko Cahyo, Director of Finance & Strategy at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI), said the banking sector can steer fair and sustainable economic growth. Bank financing can act as a motor for growth in certain sectors and enable the economy. He emphasised the role of sharia banking in building a fair, transparent, sustainable economy that benefits not only profits, but UMKM, and how BSI can finance UMKM for sustainable growth.

Novita Widya Anggraini, Director of Finance & Strategy at PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, observed that digital transactions are rising in step with the dominance of Millennials and Gen Z in internet use, though cash remains relatively high. She noted cash transactions occur not only at branches but also via ATMs; about 48-49% of transactions are now through internet banking and mobile banking, with around 10% via electronic money. She attributed this shift to the growing share of younger generations in internet use.

Abu Santosa Sudradjat, Director of Treasury & International Banking at PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI), said BNI continues to push the national economy forward through comprehensive banking services, acting as a gateway between Indonesia, investors, and global markets. BNI also offers diaspora services—from savings to loans—to support eight million people in the Indonesian diaspora worldwide, and Xpora, which helps UMKM to scale into global markets and strengthens digitalisation for financial management.
