The 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Awards Held Today!
Healthy competition between regional governments can serve as a way to drive improvements in governmental performance. By observing the achievements and innovations of other regions, local governments have the opportunity to learn, conduct evaluations, and introduce new breakthroughs that meet community needs.
This spirit is being fostered through the 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Awards Batch II for the Sulawesi Region, organised by detikcom in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri).
The event presents awards to local governments demonstrating the best performance in several sectors, ranging from waste management and environmental preservation to improving access and quality of healthcare, expanding educational access, and the implementation of the 3 Million Houses Programme.
However, these awards are not merely a form of recognition for regions that have recorded the best performance. Beyond that, the awards are expected to create positive competition between regions so that every local government continues to strive to improve the quality of development and public services.
The Minister of Home Affairs, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that the regional government appreciation activity can also serve as a means to motivate regions to continuously improve performance while showcasing various best practices that have been implemented.
“The activity can also serve as a means to motivate regions to continue improving performance while simultaneously demonstrating various best practices that have been carried out,” said Tito, as quoted by Antara on Friday (4/9/2026).
This statement indicates that the awards are not solely to be interpreted as an end achievement. On the contrary, the appreciation can act as a trigger for local governments to maintain their achievements and set even higher targets.
With this spirit, awarded regions can continue to develop their programmes, while other regions can learn from successfully implemented practices.
Previously, the 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Awards have been held in various cities, such as Batam (Sumatra Region), Bali (Java and Bali Region), and Balikpapan (Kalimantan Region).
Through these awards, local governments are expected to be further encouraged to introduce innovation, strengthen collaboration, and produce a real impact on society.
The 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Awards Batch II for the Sulawesi Region is expected to drive local governments to continue innovating, improving the quality of public services, and delivering various breakthroughs that provide a tangible impact for the community.
The 2026 Outstanding Regional Government Awards Batch II for the Sulawesi Region will be held today at 19:00 WITA. The event can be watched live on detikcom and detikSulsel.
