Jakarta — The Fourthwall padel court in Cilandak was sealed by the South Jakarta City Government through the Suku Dinas Cipta Karya, Tata Ruang, dan Pertanahan on Tuesday (3 March 2026). The sealing followed residents’ protests after noise from the court’s activities leaked into nearby homes. Investigations showed the padel court building did not hold a building permit (PBG).

“Today we have carried out another sealing at the Fourthwall Padel site. The padel court has not obtained a permit, so we have re-sealed it,” an official named Andy told reporters on Tuesday. The initial sealing occurred in November 2025.

The operator had already been given three warnings and a Surat Perintah Penghentian Kegiatan Sementara (SPKS), but there was no response. The sealing was subsequently lifted, allowing construction to continue until it reportedly began operating again at the end of January 2026. Andy did not know the exact reason for the removal, saying, “I do not know (the reason for removal). The person who opened it was not us.”

Regulations cited include Government Regulation RI No. 16 of 2021 on Buildings and Government Regulation RI No. 21 of 2021 on the Implementation of Spatial Planning. “We act in accordance with the rules. We do not do anything that contravenes the law,” Andy said on site.

Buildings without a Building Permit (PBG) must be sealed. Demolition, by contrast, is generally carried out by the building owner after receiving a Surat Perintah Pembongkaran (SPP) from the government.
