Thanks to Synergy Between Farmers and Extension Workers, Sugarcane Ratoon Dismantling in Putukrejo Runs Successfully
The implementation of the 2025 Sugarcane Ratoon Dismantling Programme in Putukrejo Village, Kalipare Subdistrict, Malang Regency, has shown positive results. The success of this programme is inseparable from the synergy between farmers, agricultural extension workers, the village government, and farmer group associations (gapoktan) in supporting increased sugarcane productivity in the area.
This was revealed during coordination and deliberation held at the Putukrejo Village Hall on Monday (4/5/2026). The event involved various strategic stakeholders, from farmer groups, gapoktan, the village government, to field agricultural extension workers.
According to the minutes of the deliberation results, Gapoktan Tani Maju, along with Poktan Rojo Koyo and Poktan Taruna Bakti, has carried out the Sugarcane Ratoon Dismantling Programme in accordance with the government’s implementation guidelines and technical instructions.
The distribution of assistance in the form of sugarcane seeds and support funds for Man-Days of Work (HOK) to farmers was also reported to have proceeded smoothly, on target, and in accordance with field needs.
In addition to the technical implementation of the programme, all parties actively contributed to creating a conducive environment to ensure the programme’s sustainability. These efforts were carried out through intensive communication, both via social media and direct meetings at the farmer group level.
Furthermore, to strengthen coordination and maintain farmers’ morale, a series of follow-up meetings at the hamlet level have been planned.
Strong commitment to the programme’s continuity was also demonstrated by all farmer groups and gapoktan in Putukrejo Village. They agreed to support the strengthening of the Ratoon Dismantling Programme in 2026 through more extensive socialisation and direct approaches to the farmers.
The successful implementation of the Sugarcane Ratoon Dismantling Programme in Putukrejo Village, Malang Regency, serves as a real example of the importance of collaboration between farmers, extension workers, and the village government in driving sustainable increases in sugarcane productivity.
The Ratoon Dismantling Programme, run by the Ministry of Agriculture in 2025 and 2026, is itself a strategic step by the government to increase national sugarcane production through crop rejuvenation.
The programme is expected to provide better economic impacts for farmers while supporting the national sugar self-sufficiency target.
