The first batch of Hajj pilgrims for 1445 H/2024 entered their accommodations in hotels in the Markaziyah area of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday morning local time (22/5/2024). The inaugural batch to arrive at Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Airport (AMAA) in Madinah was the group from Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) embarkation at 06.20 WAS or 10.20 WIB. This was followed by the pilgrims from the Jakarta (Pondok Gede) embarkation arriving at AMAA at 06.50 WAS or 10.50 WIB. The pilgrims from embarkation JKG 1 were one of four embarkations implementing the fast-track scheme, namely JKG, Makassar (UPG), Solo (SOC), and Surabaya (SUB). Through this fast-track scheme, they had already undergone administrative and immigration checks at the departure airport. In practice, the arrival of the pilgrims from the JKG embarkation was earlier at the Madinah hotel, namely at Makarem View Suites Madinah. About an hour later, the pilgrims from YIA arrived at Taibah Front Hotel, which is adjacent to the Makarem Hotel. The arrival of the first batch of pilgrims was welcomed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Abdul Azis Ahmad, the Consul General of Indonesia in Jeddah, Yusron B Ambari, the Head of the Hajj Affairs Office in Madinah, Khalilurrahman, and the Hajj Organising Officials (PPIH). “Alhamdulillah (the arrival) went smoothly. Two batches arrived almost simultaneously; Jogja arrived first at the airport, but Jakarta used the fast track so they arrived first here (at the hotel),” said Ambassador Abdul Azis Ahmad.
