Thais seek more flights to C. Java
SEMARANG, CENTRAL JAVA: Businessmen in Bangkok have requested
Indonesian authorities to expand the passenger capacity of
airplanes flying the Jakarta-Bangkok route, reported a senior
government official.
Anwar Cholil, Head of Information, Communications and Public
Relations Office of the province of Central Java, said on Monday
the businessmen's request aimed to promote Indonesian tourism in
Thailand, and in particular, to promote Central Java as a tourist
destination.
The Thai businessmen, according to Cholil, also demanded that
flights from Jakarta to Semarang and Solo, as well as flights
connecting Bali and Solo be increased.
"They admitted that promotions of Indonesian tourist
destinations are not yet optimal in Bangkok, except the promotion
of Bali," he said.
He said the appeal was made during a recent visit by Central
Java Governor Mardiyanto to Thailand. -- Antara
