Thais arrested for illegal fishing

JAKARTA: A joint Indonesian Military (TNI) and Police force
arrested 19 Thai fishermen for illegal fishing in waters off
Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province, a report said.

A team of 27 soldiers and police aboard four fishing vessels
attempted to intercept a fleet of eight Thai fishing trawlers off
Bakongan in South Aceh regency on Sunday, provincial military
spokesman Maj. Zaenal Muttaqin said on Monday.

One trawler tried to ram boats blocking its way but was
detained after the troops fired warning shots. Its crew of 19 was
taken to South Aceh district police headquarters for questioning.
The seven other boats escaped.--AFP
