Thailand Week 2026 Officially Opens in Surabaya
The Thai Trade Center, under the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) of the Ministry of Commerce, officially opened Thailand Week 2026 at Grand Atrium, Pakuwon Mall, Surabaya, on Friday (24/07). The three-day festival serves as a platform for premium Thai products to strengthen their competitiveness in the international market. The event was officially opened by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Indonesia, H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat, accompanied by the Director of the Thai Trade Center Jakarta, Mrs. Hataichanok Sivara, and the Deputy Director, Mrs. Nassaree Pathan. Carrying the theme ‘Excellence Beyond Borders, United in Value’, the festival is not merely an exhibition but a strategic bridge for business players from both countries. A total of 33 exhibition booths are presented to cater to visitors and potential business partners. Mrs. Hataichanok Sivara expressed strong optimism for this year’s event. ‘We are targeting trade negotiation values of 30 million THB (approximately Rp13.5 billion) over the next year through business matching activities and business partnerships established during the event,’ she said. Following successful editions in Jakarta in previous years, Surabaya was selected as the second host city for Thailand Week. The choice of the ‘City of Heroes’ was based on its strategic position as a centre for economic growth and the creative industry in East Java. Ambassador H.E. Mr. Prapan Disyatat emphasised that Indonesia is a crucial trading partner for Thailand within ASEAN. ‘Through Thailand Week 2026, we hope to connect Thai entrepreneurs with potential partners in Indonesia, open new collaboration opportunities, and introduce high-quality, innovative products to the wider public,’ he stated. In addition to focusing on business aspects through the Business Matching zone, the festival also serves as a platform for cultural and culinary promotion. Visitors can watch live cooking demonstrations from Thai SELECT certified restaurants, such as Chao Phraya, Baan Ying Thai, and Bangkok Crab. The rising trend of international culinary consumption in Indonesia, supported by rapid digital platforms and delivery services, presents a golden opportunity for Thai businesses to reach consumers across various regions of Indonesia more widely.
