Thailand requests Oman's assistance to rescue three missing ship crew members
Bangkok (ANTARA) — Thailand’s Navy has requested assistance from Oman to rescue three crew members of a Thai cargo ship that went missing after being attacked in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday, 11 March.
Thailand reported that of the 23 crew members, 20 were confirmed safe and have already been evacuated to Oman.
The cargo ship’s owner, Thai shipping company Thailand Precious Shipping PCL, believes that the missing crew members are trapped in the engine room.
Shortly after the attack, Thailand’s Royal Navy Commander Admiral Pairote Fuangchan sent an urgent message to Vice Admiral Saif bin Nasser Al Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, to express gratitude for the swift assistance provided to the Thai crew members.
The Royal Thai Navy also stated that it remains deeply concerned about the three Thai crew members whose whereabouts on the vessel remain unknown.
Admiral Pairote Fuangchan has requested the Omani Navy to continue and intensify search efforts to maximise the chances of locating and rescuing them as soon as possible.
