Thailand ranked top for expat living

SINGAPORE (Reuter): Thailand ranks as the best place in Asia
for expatriate living, while China is the posting of severest
hardship, according to a survey of 10 Asian countries.

Thailand ranked 3.60 on a scale of zero to 10, with zero
representing the best situation possible, in an index of
expatriate living standards, Hong Kong-based Political and
Economic Risk Consultancy Ltd said.

Bangkok's notorious traffic congestion notwithstanding,
Thailand scored relatively well in all major categories such as
child education, housing and night life, it said in the latest
Asian Intelligence report.

It said Thailand's most attractive features were its openness
to foreigners, comfortable and congenial lifestyle and good
sporting facilities.
