Thailand, Myanmar to increase flights
BANGKOK (AFP): The national flag carriers of Thailand and Myanmar will be allowed to fly more passengers between Bangkok and Yangon under an agreement expected to be approved this week by the Thai cabinet.
The accord, which Bangkok and Yangon agreed to last July and which was approved last week by Thailand's Transport Ministry, allows Thai Airways International and Myanmar Airways to fly up to 2,500 passengers per week between the two capitals, the Bangkok Post said yesterday.
That would be an increase of up to 256 people each week, or 11.4 percent. Yangon has designated 1996 "Visit Myanmar Year."
