Thailand, Myanmar agree on border

BANGKOK (Reuter): Thailand will pay more than $3 million to
build a bridge across a border river between it and Myanmar, a
Foreign Ministry official said yesterday.

The two countries signed an agreement yesterday in the
Myanmarese capital, Yangon, on construction of the bridge across
the River Moei between the northwestern Thai town of Mae Sot and
the southeastern Myanmarese town of Myawadi.

Thailand will shoulder the construction cost estimated at 80
million baht (US$3.2 million), the official said. Construction is
due to begin later this month, he said.
