Thailand, Cambodia ties normalized
THAILAND: The leaders of Thailand and Cambodia said on Wednesday that relations between their countries had fully normalized following the bad blood caused by anti-Thai riots in the Cambodian capital in January.
"We consider that what happened before was a nightmare and an accident," Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra told reporters after a meeting with visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
"Our relations are now normalized. Cambodia and Thailand are determined to start a new chapter of bilateral relations that are better than ever," he said.
Hun Sen, standing alongside Thaksin, said, "We have learned from our experiences and we have solved the problem and normalized our relations."
Relations between the two countries plunged when angry Cambodians vandalized Thailand's Embassy in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh and razed Thai-owned businesses on Jan. 29. --AP
