Thailand beat Malaysia in soccer
BACOLOD CITY: A last-gasp header from substitute Sompong Soleb
three minutes into injury time gave soccer favorite Thailand a 2-
1 win over Malaysia on Sunday.
Thailand led 1-0 before the match was disrupted by a 15-minute
power failure which blacked out at the Panaad Stadium in the 72nd
minute.
The headlamps from two fire engines and three ambulances
sparsely illuminated the pitch, where the coaches hunkered down
in dim conditions to work out tactics.
After the restart, Malaysia scored in the 82nd minute through
substitute Mohamed Nor Ismail to level the scores.
No team has yet qualified from Group A, but Thailand is
expected to beat Cambodia in its last match on Tuesday. -- AP
