Thailand aims for clean sweep in golf

JAKARTA (JP): Thailand is aiming to make a clean sweep of four gold medals in golf at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur from Sept. 8 to Sept. 17.

To help them reach this goal, Thailand is sending its amateur team to test the Games venue at the 7,015-yard par-72 Sungailong Golf and Country Club course on July 5 and July 6, the Bangkok Post reported on Wednesday.

Besides the Malaysian trip, Thailand will also send its youth team to the World Junior Golf Championships in San Diego, California, from July 17 to July 20.

Thailand will return to the Sungailong course for a final test in August.

The men's team will comprise Prom Meesawat, Wisut Atchanawat, Pariya Chunhasawatdikul, Ronnachai Chamnong and Chetdanai Choksuwannalarp, while the women's team will consist of Morakot Kladpet, Thitiya Prueksataporn, Sirikarn Roongsaeng and Ornarin Satayabanpot. (yan)
