Thai, S'pore PMs to discuss terror
THAILAND: The prime ministers of Thailand and Singapore will
discuss terrorism and regional development at a retreat on the
southern island of Phuket next week, the Thai government said on
Friday.
Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his Singaporean
counterpart, Goh Chok Tong, will attend the Jan. 10-12 retreat
with Cabinet ministers of both countries.
Thai Foreign Minister Surakiat Sathirathai told reporters the
two premiers would discuss bilateral ties, anti-terrorism
measures, community development in the region and using the
northern Thai city of Chiang Mai as a regional air hub.
They also plan to discuss the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, an
informal 17-nation forum for addressing continent-wide problems,
and the idea of an Asian bond market.
Thailand held a similar joint Cabinet meeting with Malaysia
last month. --AP
