Thai PM Reveals Private Sector Interest in Indonesian Oil, Gas, and Energy Investment

Bisnis.com, JAKARTA — Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul stated that Indonesia and Thailand have agreed to revive the Indonesia-Thailand Energy Forum as a platform to strengthen energy security cooperation and boost investment in the energy sectors of both countries. The commitment was conveyed by Anutin during a joint press statement with President Prabowo Subianto following a bilateral meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026). Anutin noted that both countries see the importance of strengthening coordination in the energy sector amid increasing challenges to global energy supply security. “In the energy sector, both parties will revive the Indonesia-Thailand Energy Forum, which will promote cooperation in energy security,” he said. According to him, the forum will serve as a means to expand collaboration between governments and business actors in developing strategic energy sectors. Anutin also revealed the significant interest of Thai companies in expanding their investments in Indonesia’s energy sector. “Thailand’s private sector is interested in further investing in Indonesia, whether in oil, natural gas, coal, or new energy sources,” he stated.
