Thai PM Offers to Supply 36 Armoured Amphibious Vehicles to Prabowo

Thailand’s Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has proposed expanding defence industry cooperation with Indonesia, stating that Thailand is ready to supply 36 armoured tactical vehicles to the Indonesian National Armed Forces. The offer was made during a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at Merdeka Palace on Monday (3/8/2026). President Prabowo said both countries must strengthen defence and security cooperation. “In my opinion, we should increase the number and level of joint training between our two defence forces. We must increase the exchange of our officers in training and education,” he said. Responding to this, Anutin said Thailand is offering to supply armoured tactical vehicles to the Indonesian National Armed Forces. “I propose that we expand cooperation in the defence industry. Thailand is ready to supply 36 units of the All-Terrain Assault Vehicle (ATAV) amphibious wheeled armoured vehicle for the Indonesian Marine Corps,” Anutin told Prabowo. He noted that this vehicle model is currently still in active use by the Royal Thai Marine Corps. During the meeting, Thailand also expressed its desire to strengthen defence relations through regular joint exercises, information exchange, and maritime security cooperation with the Indonesian National Armed Forces. “I am very pleased to know that you once trained with Thai special forces when you served in the Indonesian special forces. I am also pleased that the high-level committee meeting between the two countries was successfully held in Bangkok in February this year,” Anutin said.
