Thai PM Offers to Supply 36 Armoured Amphibious Vehicles to Prabowo

Prime Minister of Thailand Anutin Charnvirakul has proposed expanding cooperation in the defence industry sector with Indonesia. He even stated that Thailand is ready to supply 36 armoured tactical vehicles (rantis) to the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

Anutin made the remarks during a bilateral meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace on Monday (3/8/2026).

President Prabowo said the two countries must strengthen defence and security cooperation.

“In my view, we must increase the number and level of joint training between our two armed forces. We must increase our officer exchanges in training and education,” he said.

In response, Anutin said Thailand was offering to supply armoured tactical vehicles to the Indonesian National Armed Forces.

“I propose that we expand cooperation in the field of the defence industry. Thailand is ready to supply 36 units of wheeled amphibious armoured vehicles, the ATAV (All Terrain Assault Vehicle), for the Indonesian Marine Corps,” Anutin told Prabowo.

He said these tactical vehicles are currently still in active use by the Royal Thai Marine Corps.

On the occasion, Thailand also expressed willingness to strengthen relations in defence cooperation through regular joint exercises, information exchanges, and maritime security cooperation with the TNI.

“I am very pleased to know that you, Mr President, once trained with Thai special forces during your service with the Indonesian special forces. I am also delighted that the high-level committee meeting between our two countries was successfully held in Bangkok in February this year,” Anutin said.
