Thai, Lufthansa promote ties
BANGKOK (AFP): Thai Airways International and Lufthansa said
Tuesday they may step up their codeshare agreement with a deal to
share the cost and earnings of their operations between Germany
and Thailand.
"President of Thai Airways International Bhisit Kuslasayanon
and Lufthansa Chairman and CEO Jurgen Weber agreed to conduct
talks on sharing the costs and earnings of the operation," Thai
Airways said in a statement.
The airlines will intensify their five-year-old codeshare
agreement by "planning a joint venture encompassing all flights
between Germany and Thailand, starting next summer," it said.
"I anticipate excellent prospects and progress for our
partnership," Weber said.
The Lufthansa chairman said the two airlines were gearing up
to meet an expected growth in demand in the Asian region.
