Thai hopes to seal deal by late July
BANGKOK: English football giants Liverpool has agreed to sell Thailand a 30 percent stake in the club but final signing of the deal may be delayed until late July, a Thai official said on Wednesday.
Thai deputy commerce minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisarn said a final decision on whether to go ahead with the deal now rested with Thailand after Liverpool accepted demands set out by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
"Thailand and Liverpool have agreed in the minutes of a meeting to allow Thai legal and financial representatives to conduct due diligence checks," Pongsak said shortly after returning from talks with the club in Britain. --AFP
