YOGYAKARTA: A selection of mouthwatering Thai cuisine and special
halal Chinese culinary treats is on offer at the Melia Purosani
Hotel on Jl. Suryotomo in May.
Hotel public relations manager Atik Damarjati said the menu at
the hotel's El Patio coffee shop was "essentially a harmonious
marriage of centuries-old Eastern and Western influences
resulting in blissful dishes that are uniquely Thai."
Whether chili-hot or comparatively subtle, harmony was the
guiding principle behind each dish, he said.
The food ranges from the hottest to the sweetest dishes -- all
original Thai recipes. They include tom yam goong, phad thai, tom
khai gai, tod man pla, and gai haw bai toey.
For dessert, the hotel offers fug thong sung-khaya.
The mushroom-based Chinese food on offer at the hotel's Ching
San restaurant includes spring rolls with assorted mushrooms Nan
Jing style; stir-fried beef with straw mushrooms Ming Ming style;
steamed carp with black mushrooms and soya sauce; and mushrooms
stuffed with prawn mousse Achow style. -- JP
