Thai bomb threat suspect arrested
THAILAND: Police said on Thursday they had arrested a man for making a hoax bomb threat that delayed a China Airlines flight to Bangkok by two hours.
Pichai Siriwannaporn, 41, the owner of a job placement agency in Bangkok, was arrested after he admitted to police that he had made the prank call to Bangkok International Airport late on Tuesday.
Pichai told officials that a bomb was aboard flight CI065 of Taiwanese carrier China Airlines, scheduled to leave Taipei for the Thai capital.
Thai officials notified their Taiwanese counterparts and the flight was delayed for two hours at Taipei international airport while the plane was searched.
The flight landed at Bangkok early Wednesday without any incident. --AFP
