JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The platform lift or stair lift facility at Cikini Station, Menteng, Central Jakarta, which was inaugurated on Monday (30/1/2026), was bustling with use by elderly residents on Wednesday (1/4/2026). Elderly women who had just returned from exercise activities at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) took turns trying out the stair lift with assistance from station staff. Initially, staff offered access to the lift to the elderly who had just arrived at the ground floor at the south entrance of Cikini Station. The elderly who wished to go to the first floor of the station were interested in trying the facility. An escalator for ascending is already available on the right side of the stairs, while the platform lift is installed on the left side of the stairs. Staff then prepared the platform lift so it could be used to carry the elderly up to the first floor. The lift, which was initially folded, slowly opened automatically after the staff pressed the button. When opened, the lift consists of a quadrilateral platform equipped with two safety harnesses. One of the elderly, Nur (67), and two others had the opportunity to try ascending the stair lift first. Staff directed the three elderly women to step onto the lift platform and stand still. After they were on board, staff pressed the button to secure the lift’s protective barrier. “Ready, Ma’am? We’re going up now,” said the staff member. The staff then pressed the control button to move the stair lift upwards.
