Testing Indonesia's Longest Bridge During Mudik Travel via Pansela

The Pandansimo Bridge in Bantul, Yogyakarta, has become an alternative route for holiday travellers departing from West Java and Central Java en route to East Java. This bridge connects Bantul Regency (via Pandansimo) and Kulon Progo Regency (via Brosot) over the Progo River, and it can shorten the travel time for mudik journeys on the Southern Cross Road (JJLS). The Pandansimo Bridge in Bantul, Yogyakarta, has emerged as a new icon for southern Java’s coastal areas since its inauguration in 2025. This bridge measures 2.3 kilometres in length and 24 metres in width. The Pandansimo Bridge is Indonesia’s longest bridge, featuring corrugated steel plate technology and foam mortar embankment. It serves as the primary alternative route for the JJLS, linking Bantul and Kulon Progo across the Progo River. Travellers from West Java and Central Java heading to East Java can utilise this route, which is capable of reducing journey times.
