Testing cabinet loyalty

The fit-and-proper tests earlier put by President Susilo
Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) to the candidates for his 2004-2009
Cabinet should be welcomed because such separate dialogs enables
SBY to get an idea of their quality and eligibility for
ministerial offices.

No less important is that by this selection, SBY will
ascertain the loyalty of his future executive staff, so that he
can also demand the personnel's guarantee for their
responsibility and successful performance.

His Cabinet members of course, should later submit to the
leadership of SBY as president, rather than the vice president or
other parties introducing them. Under whatever conditions, they
should remain behind SBY instead of fleeing to serve personal and
group interests.
