Tesla Regains Dominance in European EV Sales

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The American automotive manufacturer, Tesla, has once again dominated the European car market with the highest sales in March 2026, thanks to its Model Y vehicle in that market. CarsCoops reported on Thursday (23/4) local time that the company faced difficulties in boosting its sales at the start of the year, even struggling to enter the list of the top 40 best-selling cars in that market. After ranking 42nd in January and 14th in February 2026, Tesla’s crossover surged dramatically to claim the first position in March this year. Sales registrations for the vehicle also jumped by 117% from March 2025, now reaching 33,723 units, a major leap that places it ahead of all other competitors on the continent. Whatever the reason, this represents a brilliant return to form for a car that was the best-selling model in Europe across all powertrains three years ago, but then lost its performance, and even the early 2025 facelift failed to restore its glory. Behind Tesla in the March rankings are the Nissan Qashqai with 27,832 sales, followed by the Renault Clio with 24,294 sales. The simple Dacia Sandero, which once competed with the Model Y for the top spot, and the Volkswagen Golf complete the top five.
