Terra Drone Indonesia CEO Sentenced to 1 Year and 4 Months in Prison for Fire That Killed 22 Employees

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Chief Executive Officer of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wisnu Wardhana Siagian, has been sentenced to one year and four months in prison in the case of the fire at his office that killed 22 employees. The verdict was read in a hearing at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakarta Pusat), Kemayoran, on Thursday (21 May 2026).

“Finds the defendant Michael Wisnu Wardhana Siagian proven beyond reasonable doubt to have committed the criminal act of negligence which resulted in the death of others,” said the panel of judges of the Central Jakarta District Court in the trial.

The panel also ordered that the period of arrest and detention endured by the defendant be deducted in full from the sentence imposed. In addition, the panel ordered that Michael Wisnu remain in custody.

Previously, the CEO of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wisnu Wardhana, was charged with a two-year prison term in the case of the fire at his office which killed 22 employees.

The Prosecutor (JPU) Daru Iqbal Mursid stated that Michael Wisnu was proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a crime caused by his negligence leading to the death of others.

“Therefore, sentence the defendant Michael Wisnu Wardhana Siagian to a prison term of two years minus the time already served in arrest and detention,” said the Prosecutor.

Michael was found to have violated Article 474 Paragraph 3 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Indonesian Penal Code (KUHP).

The Prosecutor also noted aggravating factors in Michael Wisnu’s position in the Terra Drone Indonesia fire case. Michael was deemed negligent in safeguarding employee safety, resulting in the death of 22 PT Terra Drone Indonesia employees in the fire that occurred on 9 December 2025.

Meanwhile, settlement with 20 families of the victims who died became one of the mitigating points for Michael Wisnu’s position in the case that ensnared him.
