JAKARTA - The CEO of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wishnu Wardana, shook hands and apologised to the parents of victims who died in the fire at the company’s office.

The direct apology was made by Michael during the trial for the PT Terra Drone Indonesia fire case at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

Initially, Michael listened to statements from the victims’ parents.

The parents attended the hearing to be examined as witnesses.

Those present included Mimi Adriani Nasution, the mother of the late Raihansyach Pinago Sipahutar, and Mulyati, the mother of the late Muchamad Apriyana.

After hearing the parents’ statements, Michael Wishnu responded.

“I wish to convey my condolences and my deepest apologies for this incident,” Michael said.

“I also wish to convey that this has indeed brought sadness to us as colleagues, and since that day, it has carried a very heavy burden in our hearts due to the loss of our colleagues,” he explained.

Michael then shook hands with the parents one by one.

CEO Michael Wishnu is charged with negligence causing the Terra Drone office fire that killed 22 people.

He failed to carry out his duty to prevent, reduce, and extinguish fires in the building that serves as the workplace for PT Terra Drone Indonesia.

Michael did not provide fire detection sensors, did not provide smoke detection sensors, did not provide emergency ladders and evacuation route signs, did not conduct regular fire prevention training and drills, and did not provide adequate Lithium Fire Killer (AF31) portable fire extinguishers in the office building.

The article charged under the provision on negligence resulting in fire, explosion, or flood endangering public safety, with a maximum penalty of five years’ imprisonment.
