Terra Drone Fire Case Enters Court, CEO Michael Wishnu Charged with Negligence
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The case of the fire at the Terra Drone building in Kemayoran, which killed 22 people on 9 December 2025, has now entered the trial stage.
Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court (PN), Andi Saputra, stated that the first hearing for the Terra Drone building fire case was held on 11 March 2026.
The agenda for the hearing was the reading of the indictment against the defendant, Michael Wishnu Wardana.
Michael Wishnu is the President Director of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, who had previously been designated as a suspect in the fire case at his company’s office.
“It has already taken place. The second hearing was on 1 April with the agenda of examining witnesses,” said Andi when confirmed by Kompas.com on Thursday (2/4/2026).
Meanwhile, the next hearing schedule is set for 15 April 2026, or two weeks from now, still with the agenda of examining witnesses for the public prosecutor.
Based on the indictment file obtained by Kompas.com, Michael Wishnu, as President Director, failed to carry out his obligations to prevent, reduce, and extinguish fires in the building that serves as the workplace for PT Terra Drone Indonesia.
Michael did not provide fire detection sensors, did not provide smoke detection sensors, did not provide emergency ladders and evacuation route signs, did not conduct regular fire prevention training and drills, and did not provide adequate Lithium Fire Killer (AF31) portable fire extinguishers in the office building.
Michael Wishnu is charged with violating Article 474 paragraph (3) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).
That article regulates penalties for negligence causing serious injury, with a maximum prison sentence of five years or a maximum fine of Rp500,000,000.
He is also charged with violating Article 188 of the KUHP. That article regulates negligence causing fire, explosion, or flood that endangers public safety, with a maximum criminal penalty of five years in prison.
The panel of judges hearing the Terra Drone fire case is chaired by Chief Judge Purwanto S Abdullah, with member judges Ni Kadek Susantiani and Sunoto.
