Terra Drone CEO Pleads for Leniency: I Have Responsibility to 340 Employees

The President Director of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wisnu Wardhana, stated that he must continue to manage the company due to his responsibility towards 340 employees. This argument was presented as a consideration for the panel of judges to decide on a lenient sentence regarding the office fire case that claimed 22 lives.

“I must continue to run the company because I have a responsibility to 340 employees of the company,” Michael stated during the plea reading at the Central Jakarta District Court, Kemayoran, on Tuesday (19/05/2026).

Firstly, Michael noted that PT Terra Drone, under his leadership, has undertaken peace efforts with all the families of the victims. Secondly, he stated that he has no prior criminal record. Thirdly, Michael mentioned that he has parents and family members who are dependent on him and require his presence, noting that their economic well-being remains tied to the company.

Finally, Michael expressed deep regret over the fire at the PT Terra Drone Indonesia office and promised to improve operations in the future. “I appeal to Your Honours of the Panel of Judges to grant forgiveness and/or the lightest possible sentence to me,” Michael said.

He further emphasised that he has never ignored occupational safety aspects and has endeavoured to implement precautionary principles in managing the company. Consequently, he maintained that he never intended to commit any unlawful acts, especially those that would cause loss or endanger employees whom he considers part of his family.
