Jakarta (ANTARA) - Prosecutors from the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office, Daru Iqbal Mursid, have demanded a two-year prison sentence for Michael Wishnu Wardana, CEO of Terra Drone Indonesia, in the case of the fire that resulted in 22 deaths. “I request that the panel of judges rule that the defendant Michael Wishnu Wardana has been legally and convincingly proven to have committed a criminal act,” Daru said in Jakarta on Monday. The prosecutors also requested that the panel declare the defendant guilty of a criminal act that caused the death of others due to his negligence. In addition, the prosecutors asked that the defendant be sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, and that the defendant remain in custody. “To declare that the defendant Michael Wishnu Wardana is sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, minus the period of arrest and detention already served,” Daru stated. The prosecutors stated that the defendant Michael Wishnu Wardana is charged as regulated and punishable under Article 474 paragraph (3) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. Furthermore, the prosecutors said that the defendant’s actions fulfil the provisions regulated and punishable under Article 188 of the Criminal Code, which governs criminal acts due to negligence (carelessness) that cause fire, explosion, or flood and endanger the lives of others or public safety of goods.
