Terra Drone Boss Set to Be Sentenced Today in Fatal Fire Case
The chief executive officer of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, Michael Wisnu Wardhana, is due to face a verdict hearing regarding alleged negligence in a fire incident at the company’s building in Central Jakarta which killed 22 employees. The verdict reading is listed on the Jakarta Pusat District Court’s case information system (SIPP) on Thursday, 21 May. The verdict hearing related to the fire at PT Terra Drone’s building, which occurred on Tuesday 9 December, will be held at 1:00 pm WIB. Previously, Wardhana was charged with a two-year prison sentence. The Public Prosecutor’s Office argued that Wardhana’s negligence hindered the prevention, reduction, and extinguishing of the fire that occurred at the Terra Drone Indonesia office building in Central Jakarta. The prosecutor said the negligence caused 22 fatalities among PT Terra Drone Indonesia employees. The prosecutors asserted that the defendant had committed a crime which, due to negligence, caused the death of another person. “Thus, sentencing the defendant Michael Wisnu Wardhana to two years in prison,” the prosecutor said in the Jakarta Pusat Court on Monday, 11 May. The aggravating factor behind the charge is that the defendant’s negligence caused the death of 22 PT Terra Drone Indonesia employees. The mitigating factor is that the defendant cooperated, admitted and regretted his actions, and has no prior criminal record.
