The Public Prosecutors (JPU) have demanded that the panel of judges at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN) sentence Michael Wisnu Wardhana, the President Director of PT Terra Drone Indonesia, to two years’ imprisonment in connection with the fire at the Terra Drone building that killed 22 people.

According to the prosecutors, the defendant has been proven guilty of committing a criminal act through negligence that resulted in the deaths of others.

“Therefore, impose a prison sentence on the Defendant Michael Wisnu Wardhana for a term of 2 years,” the prosecutor stated in the courtroom at the Central Jakarta District Court on Monday (11/5).

The prosecutors said that the aggravating factor behind the demand is that the defendant’s negligence caused the deaths of 22 employees of PT Terra Drone Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that the prosecutors stated the defendant has been cooperative, admitted and regretted his actions, and has never been punished before.

Previously, Wisnu was charged with negligence that led to the deaths of dozens of people in the fire at the PT Terra Drone office in Central Jakarta.

The prosecutors stated that PT Terra Drone only had one main door without emergency stairs. The seven-storey building only had one staircase and one lift unit.

In addition, the prosecutors mentioned that employees had difficulty extinguishing the initial sparks because there were no portable fire extinguishers (APAR), which hindered the evacuation process.

The defendant’s actions are said to have violated Article 474 paragraph 3 or Article 188 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP).

For his actions, Wisnu is considered to have violated Article 474 paragraph 3 of the KUHP.
