Terpujilah GURU: Telkomsel launches training and competency development programme for educators in Indonesia to help teachers adapt to developments in technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), while promoting their roles as Educator, Creator, and Innovator. The launch of Terpujilah GURU was marked by a Kick Off at SMK BOASH, Bogor Regency, involving 120 teachers on site and hundreds of teachers joining online from across Bogor. The event was attended by Telkomsel’s VP Corporate Communications and Social Responsibility, Abdullah Fahmi, and the Head of Education Office for wilayah 1 of West Java Province, Cucu Salman. Amid the acceleration of digital transformation, the role of teachers is no longer just to deliver material, but to guide students in understanding and using technology wisely. This challenge is underscored by the results of the Teacher Competency Test (UKG) which show around 81% of teachers in Indonesia have not reached the minimum standard, making capacity-building for educators increasingly important. Abdullah Fahmi said that through the practical and Applied learning platform in Terpujilah GURU, participants are expected to be able to apply new skills directly in their teaching activities, including leveraging AI for productivity, creating creative educational content, and designing visual teaching materials. Terpujilah GURU will run from May to September 2026 in various cities, with a target to reach more than 1,000 teachers through the stages of Scouting, Screening, Academy, Mentoring, and Bootcamp. To extend the impact on teaching quality more broadly, participating teachers will receive a number of benefits, including enhanced digital skills, a portfolio of applicable teaching materials, networks with innovative teacher communities, and mentoring and recognition support. “Through the spirit of Serving with All Heart, Telkomsel empowers teachers to create better days and a brighter future. Terpujilah GURU is designed to help educators use technology appropriately so that learning becomes more effective, creative, and impactful,” he said, as quoted on Wednesday (20 May 2026). Head of Education Office for wilayah 1, West Java Province, Cucu Salman, praised Telkomsel’s initiative to strengthen teachers’ competencies. “Strengthening teachers’ digital literacy is the key to ensuring teaching remains aligned with the times and students’ needs. We hope this programme can continue to be expanded so its benefits are felt by more educators,” he said. To broaden sustained impact, the Terpujilah GURU programme also involves communities and professional organisations such as PGRI, MGMP, Guru Pejuang Digital, PPG Prajabatan, and 1000 Guru. With a collaborative, needs-based approach, Telkomsel hopes Terpujilah GURU can become part of a joint effort to improve Indonesia’s education quality, while strengthening the readiness of the next generation to face the digital era.
