Teras Lenteng Agung Traders Hope for Affordable Kiosk Levy Rates
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Several traders at Teras Lenteng Agung (LA) in South Jakarta hope that kiosk levy rates will be affordable, considering the area has only recently been constructed.
“The cheapest possible levy; if it’s expensive, we can negotiate—Rp300,000 is too much,” said one trader named Heru when met at Teras LA in South Jakarta on Friday.
He admitted to having just started trading at the location, so he is still adjusting, including to the income he receives.
Heru said the area only starts to get busy with visitors in the late afternoon towards evening.
“During the day, they are still closed. Usually from afternoon to evening, and weekends are even busier because of live music,” said Heru.
Meanwhile, a former Barito trader, Minah, added that besides affordable levies, she also suggested that the management add more trees around the Teras LA area.
“Perhaps trees can be added to make it shady and not too hot here,” said Minah.
Currently, all kiosks are occupied and are still in the early management phase after handover from the developer to the government.
UMKM players at Teras LA are also still charged free rental fees because the levy rates are still being prepared by the relevant parties.
The levies are planned to be communicated to the traders after the assessment process is complete.
The Sentra Fauna or Teras LA stands on a 7,500 square metre plot of land. Of that area, around 2,000 square metres is allocated for traders who previously occupied Temporary Locations (Loksem) JS 25, JS 26, JS 30, and JS 96.
The kiosks in the fauna centre are divided into three main zones: Zone A consisting of 22 culinary kiosks, Zones C and D with 74 kiosks for bird traders and animal feed, and Zone E for parcel and culinary traders with 29 kiosks.
Meanwhile, Zone B is for an amphitheatre which is currently not yet operational.
