More than 400 Ukrainian drones targeted the Moscow region overnight, according to the city’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin. Writing on a government-backed social media platform, Sobyanin stated that the majority of the unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted by air defence forces at a distance. “From 8:30 PM to 5:00 AM, over 400 enemy drones flew towards the Moscow region. Most were destroyed by air defence systems on distant approaches,” he wrote.

In recent months, the Ukrainian military has intensified strikes inside Russian territory, describing them as retaliation for over four years of assaults on Ukraine. Separately, the state news agency TASS reported on Monday that six people, including three foreign citizens, were hospitalised with blast injuries in the Moscow region. The Domodedovo Central City Hospital confirmed the admissions, though it was not immediately clear if the injuries were directly related to the drone attacks. Domodedovo is located south of Moscow and is home to a major international airport serving the capital.
