Ukraine has launched a massive aerial attack against Moscow, the Russian capital, involving at least 65/650 drones overnight. Moscow authorities reported that at least two people died as a result of the barrage of Kyiv’s drone strikes.

Reports from the TASS news agency, as cited by AFP and Reuters on Tuesday (6/10/2026), stated that this onslaught represents the second-largest drone attack targeting the Russian capital and its surrounding areas in the last two years.

In recent months, both Russia and Ukraine have increased long-range attacks against civilian and industrial targets, including energy, transport, and port infrastructure, as well as vessels in the Black Sea.

Russian authorities reported that at least 650 Ukrainian drones were detected being launched towards Moscow overnight. The Mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, stated that most of Kyiv’s drones were successfully intercepted and shot down.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, reported that 185 Ukrainian drones were destroyed or shot down within the Moscow region. He noted that the drone attack triggered a fire at a warehouse in the Moscow area.

In his statement, Vorobyov also reported that at least two people died due to the Ukrainian drone attacks. It was noted that one person died in the Radumlya area and another in Barybino.

Vorobyov added that six other people were injured in the Moscow region. According to Vorobyov, the drone strikes caused damage to several houses in his jurisdiction.

In the Litvinovo area, a drone struck the roof of a retail store’s warehouse, triggering a fire.

This series of Kyiv’s drone attacks follows Russia’s announcement of plans to increase strikes on infrastructure targets, including Kyiv, ahead of the approaching winter season.
