Tense Situation: Several People Trapped in Lift at Lebak Bulus MRT Station
A video uploaded on the Instagram account @ijoeel went viral on social media, showing several passengers reportedly trapped inside the lift at Lebak Bulus MRT Station during a power outage. PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) reported operational disruptions at several stations on Thursday afternoon around 5:57 PM WIB due to a power supply issue from PLN on the CSW side. The disruption caused several station facilities to malfunction temporarily, including lighting and vertical transportation services. The Head of the Corporate Secretary Division of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda), Rendy Primartantyo, explained that the disruption occurred due to a power supply problem that directly impacted operational facilities at the stations. “This operational disruption was caused by a power supply issue from the PLN side (CSW), resulting in some station facilities, such as lighting, elevators, escalators, and several other facilities, experiencing disruptions,” said Rendy in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that all elevated stations experienced a total blackout. However, the situation has now been normalised after quick handling by the officers. MRT Jakarta stated that it has taken handling steps and conducted intensive coordination with relevant parties to ensure services return to normal. Field officers are also continuing to monitor the situation to maintain smooth operations and user safety. “We apologise for the inconvenience; the safety of MRT Jakarta Customers remains our priority,” he said.
